Why use a seamless heavy wall tube?

The application of the tube determines the choice of the right tube. Heavy wall tubes are often used in the mechanical engineering sector to create all kinds of machine parts, such as gears. They are also used for the production of hydraulic cylinders, for many parts in the maritime industry and for steel constructions. They are one of the most versatile tube products indeed!

Different EU standards and steel grades for seamless heavy wall tubes and hollow bar are designed for different purposes:

  • Steel grade S355J2H as per EN10210 is suitable for structural applications.
  • Steel grade E355 according to EN10297 is suitable for mechanical engineering purposes.
  • Steel grade P355N according EN 10216 is suitable for pressure equipment.
  • Steel grade E470+AR according to EN 10294 (hollow bar) has excellent properties for machining

Value adding services

1. Cutting

Very often, seamless heavy wall tubes are needed in specific lengths to match the requirement of the end product. We have various  machines to cut heavy wall tubes to the required lengths, with narrow cutting tolerances (-0/+2 mm).

2. Testing and inspection

We can perform destructive and non-destructive material tests for heavy wall tubes, such as impact tests, hot yield tests and PMI. We organize inspections by third parties such as Lloyds Register and TÜV.

3. Restamping and marking

For identification purposes, we are allowed to restamp the heat number on the tube after cutting. We also make any other (paint) marking or stencilling you desire.
