Carbon Steel Flanges

Van Leeuwen delivers a very extensive range of steel pipes and pipe components, including flanges. Flanges are used to connect pipes to each other. In addition to our wide range of pipes, we supply all associated flanges in various sizes and thicknesses. These flanges are mainly used in installations, pipeline systems, and in equipment construction. Van Leeuwen can supply suitable flanges for every quality, pipe size and pressure class.

How to apply flanges

The number of holes for fastening with nuts and bolts and the thickness of the flanges depends on the liquid or gas pressure in a pipe. To make the pipe connection gas or liquid-tight, seals - also called gaskets - are placed. A packing ring is normally used for this. In order to guarantee complete connection to the pipe, it is essential that the packing rings are easily deformable. For the perfect connection, the flanges are provided with packing grooves on the sealing surfaces.

There are various methods for mounting flanges on pipes, recognizable by their type:

  • Loose flanges: the flange is slid over the pipe, giving the pipe a collar at the end.
  • Threaded flanges: these flanges are provided with an inner thread. This is used to screw them to the end of the pipe.
  • Welding flanges: the flange is fixed to the pipe by welding.
