Royal Van Leeuwen proudly adopts lioness Yuna

Earlier this year, Yuna and her sister Miya found a new home at Diergaarde Blijdorp Rotterdam. By adopting Yuna, Van Leeuwen contributes to her well-being and supports broader conservation efforts to protect her natural habitat.

Yuna belongs to a critically endangered species, with only around 650 Asiatic lions left in the wild today. Diergaarde Blijdorp is playing an important role in addressing these challenges. The zoo participates in extensive research aimed at detecting health issues early and coordinates the species' population management program. This program oversees the breeding and exchange of lions between zoos to ensure the healthiest genetic matches.

For years, our name has been visible from the zoo through our illuminated signage on a flat in Rotterdam. Now, we’re proud to extend that presence inside the park as an official adoption partner, helping safeguard the future of the Asiatic lion.
